At one point it was thought that the person Sargent gave this to (D. Vergeses) was the subject but it was later believed that it probbaly wasn't.

I've attached a shot of the museum's title card too. This is a small painting. I've included a poor shot of it in it's frame just for scale. I love the single stab of paint indicating the right wrist.
