Sold from the Collection of William J. and Jean Hogan of Bronxville, New York. The Hogan Collection was assembled predominantly during the 1950s through the 1970s and offers works by a number of prominent American and European artists. Jean Hogan studied nuclear physics and joined IBM in the 1950s, becoming one of the first female scientists at the firm. Mr. Hogan was a vice president at American Airlines, and acquired several of the works in the Hogan Collection directly from the corporate collection of American Airlines. After retiring from American Airlines in 1967, Mr. Hogan continued collecting and was for many years a regular presence at the exhibitions and auctions of Parke-Bernet.
