This was reproduced in the Illustrated London
News. This is of Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone, and the reproduction
is from the Illustrated London News issue that marked the Silver Anniversary
of her wedding to Prince Alexander of Teck, which took place February 10,
1904, so I assume it dates from 1929. Alice was born the daughter
of Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany (son of Queen Victoria; d. 1884) and
his wife (nee Princess Helen of Waldeck-Pyrmont). Princess
Alice married Prince Alexander in 1904, and they had three children. During
World War I, when German names and titles were unpopular in England, the
title Prince of Teck changed to Earl of Athlone.
