County Museum of Art
yesterday to see the John Sargent in Italy exhibit . . .
Simplon Pass . . . had my jaw on the floor, but the quality of
the [image above] is bad. The painting, from 10-15 feet away is
perfect, perfect. Up close, the painting is a scrambled set of
brushstrokes in different colors–one amazing scribble defines a sunlit
