Notes:
Although
the
Fogg doesn't date the work, these very careful studies of the Masters
are
often indicative of his early work. For the sake of narrative, I have
placed
it in the year 1874 when he was studying at the Accademia in
Florence.
Certainly the students would go to the Uffizi from time to time to copy
the Masters and this could have been one of them.
Still,
it could
just as easily be part of his studies for the mural work he was doing
in
Boston in the 90's and beyond, so it's hard to say.
