John Singer Sargent -- American painter 1880/1882? Private collection Watercolor 12 x 19 in. Jpg: Askart.com
Probably the most tourist view painting he did of Venice. We are looking sort of northwest from the lagoon. You can see the Palazzo Ducale and the campanile of San Marco to the right and the domed Santa Maria della Salute to the left. Note: Offered by Sothbeys but not sold; 5/27/1999; Lot 110; estimated $50,000-$75,000 The source didn't date
this painting
but it appears to be line with Venice
par temps gris as well as Cafe
on the Riva degli Schiavoni The darker ships and more brown
tones
seems to be in line with 1880/1882
