The slope of the city is interesting in how it is built up along the hillside. Some 13 years previous, John Singer Sargent spent some time here and painted the buildings and narrow streets on a more intimate level. His painting, believed to be wrongly titled A Street in Algiers, is generally thought to be of Tangier.
