This portrait was one of  the four commissioned by Mrs. Arthur Bronson. All were painted at the same sittings which included this one by Ralph Curtis, one by Harper Pennington, Julian Story and Charles Forbes. It was probably done at Browning son's  Palazzo Rezzonico, which was just up the a way on the Grand Canal, were there were a number of artists who had studios.
