Weegee (Arthur Fellig 1899-1968) a famous New York newspaper photographer who depicted an "in your face” directness to New York life. One of his favorite themes was contrasting the differences of social classes.

The two women were Mrs. George Washington Kavenaugh and Lady Decies entering the Metropolitan Opera as a "critic" watches.
