Catherine (Kitty) Austin who an older sister to Mary Turner
Austin whom Sargent painted the same year. Both cousins to
John and were two of four siblings in the Austin family.
Ormond and Kilmurray think that maybe the model for this painting might
not have been Italian girl at all, but possibly a Parisian model.
