I saw [Alpine Pool on tour] today (here in San Diego, CA) and purchased the Exhibit book for American Impressionists Abroad and at Home.

The photo in the book does a complete injustice to the painting. I would like to see a photo on the web that truly brings out the richness. . . The bright (and I really mean bright from the oil painting) of the straw weeds . . . on the right hand side . . . is the very first thing that catches the eye....next is the incredible blue of the water, and as an artist...up close you don't see this...from afar...all the rock in the bottom of the painting give the illusion of being underwater.

Sincerely,

Lynn
San Diego, CA

Editor's Note -- A newer much better depiction of the painting has since been added above.

See as it hung in the Met
