This year's Sargent show is in the Brooklyn Museum. Last year -- the Adelson Gallery had "Sargents Women".

The draw for me in these exhibitions are the works done for his own enjoyment and not the ones commisioned.

Head of an Italian Girl
1878
Plate 74

Cara Burch
1888
Plate 31

As an inveterate copier, myself [see some of Andy's work], the big stars at the show were pl.74 " Head of an Italian Woman" and pl.31 "Cara Burch". The former was possibly done in one sitting. A beautiful face presented with no frills. Cara Burch, a young lady from a different world, is shown more formally and with abundant frills.

Yet another wonderful show with a great catalog and excellant reproductions.
