Around the first of July, before I had gone to the show myself, I received a very pleasant letter from Jim Niendorff asking if I had gotten any "reconnaissance reports on the exhibit." Surprisingly enough, considering there are probably thousands who have see it, no one ever sent me their thoughtful appraisal. Well, I wasn't going to let an opportunity pass and I promptly responded by asking if he would be willing to be deputized as an official JSS Gallery correspondent.

He agreed.

Overview

The exhibition explores Sargent's very unique relationship to that culturally rich country over his entire lifetime. His work from Italy represent some of his most substantial and beautiful pieces.
